On Being Spring
Prints in Fabric
Flowers, butterflies, rainbows, perky designs, small stripes, plaids (not overdone), and polka dots are Spring. Pastel Springs enjoy sheer, floating, wispy fabrics. Absolute Springs are at home in cotton, gabardine or any neutral in silks, wools and weaves with texture. Striking Springs love velvet, satin, wool or suede.
Accessories of Spring
Spring is the Season with a flair for accessories. Hats that are daring or fun are indicative of Spring. Zany necklaces and accessories give a fun look to Spring's wardrobe. Light yellow-gold metal worn above or set around bright gemstones or beads are perfect for Spring. Anything goes in accessorizing Springs.
How To Use Your Spring Colors
Basically, there are four possible types of Springs. Because of your blending with another Season or even two, you may not have the typical look expected for Spring. You may have any color of hair in any Season, but your skin tone remains in the warm undertone. You need the colors found in the Spring Color Fan. Do not use the colors from the Season you are blended with. Stay in your own Season's Fan Colors. You may want to follow some of these suggestions for using colors for your special body harmony colors.
Blonde or Silver-Haired Springs (Absolute Spring)
Follow all the instructions in the book, Color Me A Season, by Bernice Kentner for wearing your colors. All bouquet colors will be marvelous on you, as will the top colors on each strip. Bright colorful combinations and busy prints will be tolerated well. You are the bright floral type as are the flowers we find in the spring time of the year. Black is a poor choice. You look in harmony with your own beige tones that match the hair coloring. Use your neutrals along with bright colors or solids. Use prints in your jewel-toned colors from the Bouquet Strips. Yellow-browns and rusts, used as base colors will be lovely also. Stark white is sometimes good but must be tried in combination with your bright Spring colors.
Light Brown or Salt and Pepper Grey (Pastel Spring)
You may follow the suggestions for Blonde Springs if your personality will allow you to be bright and colorful. The Color Fan for Spring has many pastel color suggestions that will be right for you. Your hair color on the Fan and other browns, tans, and rusts will be nice. Since your are a softer version of Spring you may almost achieve the look of a Summer, but only with your yellow under-base colors. Try using small laces and smaller prints. Red, white, and blue effects in plaids are good if yellow or tan is added to compliment your golden skin tone. In your browns and tans you will seem more Autumn than Spring since they are more serious and down-to-earth colors. If your hair is warm brown you will look like caramel cream itself, in your yellowbrown selections.
Red Headed Spring (Glorious Spring)
You are a warm and vibrant person, blending somewhat with Autumn. When red is the hair coloring it counts as one portion, so three colors aren't as good, fitting the rule that three colors, or even more are Spring-like. You are a Spring, and you will look smashing in the neutrals of your Color Fan. One or two colors might be enough. Use the bright Bouquet colors if they do not clash with your hair. Green, turquoise, blues, browns and tans are especially in harmony with you and purple is fantastic as it is analogous to your hair tone. Use wine or burgundy for a basic jumper or jacket, but use a creamy white with it around your face. Burgundy alone is not good. Black in the yellowed version can be very dramatic on you. You will want to accessorize it well with gold jewelry, or Spring colors. Prints in fabrics can be floral, plaid, stripes and even paisleys if in Spring colors. Depending on body structure you might imitate Autumn's tweedy suit look.
Dark Brunette Springs (Striking Spring)
You are almost a Winter type within the Spring color spectrum. Unlike the Winter person you resemble, your personality and flair for color is brighter. You may imitate Winter by using Spring's black and bright, clear, jewel toned bouquet colors on the Fan. Winter's stark white is usually not as good on you as it is on a blonde Spring. You may try it when cosmetics are perfect, to see if it is good. If not, use a light off-white with black and you will be as striking as a Winter. Fabrics may be more elegant but must be in your yellow-undertoned Spring colors.
